The Santa Brick Chronicles

A little story from a good friend for your enjoyment... You may be wondering who or what is a "Santa Brick".  Well, many years ago in a galaxy far, far away... (uh... actually it was a just an office) a Pollyanna Auction was held as part of the holiday festivities.  One of the staff in this office won "the Santa Brick".

For many years Santa Brick lived a quiet life overlooking the nearby hospital entrance, listening to the sirens of the ambulances, and watching the helicopters land.  In the winter he obviously helped Santa (the North Pole guy) spread Christmas cheer.  But in the summer, Santa Brick had an even more important job!  He got to hold the window open so all the good people inside the office could get fresh air!  (OK, it was city air, but at least it was from outside.)

Then it happened... one weekend in '07, Santa Brick was put into a box!  He wasn't in there long, but when he came out he found he was in a brand new office!  Not like his old office (that reminded him of old "Hill Street Blues" episodes)... this one was fancy and sparkling!  Really nice digs!

But then it happened... he realized that this place had central air conditioning.  And worse... the windows didn't open!!!  SANTA BRICK HAD BEEN FIRED!  Oh, he could still spread Christmas cheer, but so can a bunch of twinkle lights.  How many twinkle lights can hold open a window all day long?  I ask you... how many?  None!  That is clearly a job for Santa Brick!

And so it happened one night... Santa Brick decided that since he didn't need to hold open windows, he would leave the holiday cheer spreading to the twinkle lights and go see what is outside those windows.  HE ESCAPED!  But he has not forgotten us!  Like the good friend that he is, he periodically sends us pictures and emails about his adventures.

So now, dear readers... here are copies of his emails and journeys.  Fare thee well, oh Great Santa Brick!  We will miss you!  Enjoy your retirement as you sip pina coladas on the beach of some Caribbean island.  (Oh yeah... the latest ones that we got are on the top, so read them from bottom... and don't forget to click on the thumbnail picture for a bigger picture.)

Dear Santa Brick,
The fire alarm went off today and I have to tell you we were a bit concerned...were you able to get out?  Also, you know you do have a duty. You are our means of escape (of course we'll have to toss you through a window), if we should ever get trapped in here.  Please come back soon - we need you.       Affectionately,  Catherine

04/21/08 - Now this is the life!

04/15/08 - I'm sorry it's been so long since I last contacted you, but I've been having a difficult time getting around. But I'm getting the hang of it now!

04/05/08 - Hello - I've spent this past week exploring the building. (Of course I had to do this at night when no one was around.) It is quite a nice place and I've even met other department mascots!

03/30/08 - But before I escaped I hacked into the system!
